She holds an M.Ed. from the University of Southern California. Her book, Uninfluenceable: A Guide to Raising Confident Kids in a Trend-Driven, Social-Media-Fueled World, gives parents research-backed tools for raising children who know themselves before the algorithm decides for them. Alanna homeschools her four children, who attended Montessori preschool and never went to public school, and the family has worldschooled across nine countries over the past four years. Her work has appeared in Scary Mommy, Parents, Verywell Family, Mom.com and What’s Up Moms.
